As it turns out, the gem was an egg for some unknown type of danger noodle.  
As soon as the gem is open, the noodle slithers towards your ankle and grabs 
a hold of you in its jaws. It begins moving in ways that your eyes can't 
seem to see.  Dragging you along, it moves into the wall of the dungeon.  
It lets you go somewhere along the way, leaving you trapped inside the wall.
Despite this, you don't seem to be suffocating.  As time passes inside the 
blackness of the solid space you are stuck in, you realize in horror that 
you are not dying.  You are trapped in the wall for eternety.
